An exciting opportunity has become available to play a major part in the development of the Oakwood Court College’s employability strategy as their new Employability Co-ordinator.
About us and Oakwood Court College:
The Phoenix Learning & Care Group was established in 2006 and is a provider of specialist children’s homes across the South West. Our homes cater for Young people with specific and individual needs who may have a range of social and emotional difficulties, behaviour, trauma and attachment issues, learning difficulties and other associated needs.
Oakwood Court College is an independent specialist college located in the beautiful South West of England. Oakwood Court College offers a holistic, broad and balanced curriculum which enables learners to flourish academically, vocationally, socially, physically and emotionally. We encourage a ‘can do’ culture at the college, recognising learners individual needs and developing their particular strengths to help them to achieve their full potential.
Located across two campuses one in Dawlish, Devon and the other at Torpoint in Cornwall we provide a specialist provision for young people aged 16 – 25 years, designed to meet the needs of young people with Learning difficulties/disabilities, Autism, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) conditions and complex behaviour to help prepare for adult life, gaining confidence, and to live independently.

The Role:
Employability learning and work experience placements are also a vital part of our students’ experience while at Oakwood Court College. The Employability Co-Ordinator will have responsibility for shaping, managing and delivering processes and systems to meet the needs of our students through the promotion of employability pathways, career development and fostering of key relationships with local and national employers. A key focus on supporting the education teams and the College’s senior management team in driving awareness in routes to employment, work experience placements and supported internships to enable our students to flourish towards greater independence whilst embedding a culture of employment throughout the curriculum.
Experience and Qualifications:
Essential:
- University Degree with experience in education
Desirable:
- QTS or QTLS status
- Formal career advisory qualifications
