Job overview

LAT Apprenticeships has a fantastic opportunity to appoint an experienced and suitably qualified Assessor/Coach who will work with a number of our learners to support them with their apprenticeships programmes.  We have an existing cohort in the process of finishing their Level 3 (Framework) in addition to new cohorts of learners who will be undertaking a Level 3 (Standard) that you will be responsible for supporting.

You will provide high quality engineering subject matter expertise for the induction, reviewing, training delivery, assessment and the quality assurance of apprentices progressing on both the Electrical and Mechanical pathways for our Engineering Technician apprenticeship programme.

You’ll use OneFile (our online portfolio system) in line with company standards, contractual requirements and relevant Awarding Organisational regulatory requirements.  You will ensure all progress reviews, observations, communications and other information regarding the apprentices are uploaded onto OneFile accordingly.

As directed by the Apprenticeships Centre Manager, you will conduct apprenticeship/award quality control activities throughout the delivery of the programme, and will appropriately prepare our learners for gateway and EPA.  You will also seek to continuously improve the programme delivery.

This position is offered on a part-time basis (3 days per week which will ideally include Wednesdays) and the remuneration is £35/hour.  The basis will be reviewed in due course as our cohort numbers increase.

About LAT Apprenticeships:  LAT Apprenticeships is a training provider offering a variety of apprentice programmes for companies and employees based in Kent and South-East London.  We are an employer-provider which means we provide our own workplace training. We deliver apprenticeship programmes directly to our staff, taking control of day-to-day learning, assessment, quality and end-point assessment. This emphasises the importance we place on the quality of the programmes we deliver - our own employees enrol on the programmes as well as learners from other companies.  This culminates in diverse cohorts of learners at varying stages in their career, across private, public and not-for-profit organisations, and in small, medium and large companies.

LAT Apprenticeships offers training and development programmes to help our learners gain technical and functional knowledge, whilst acquiring on-the-job practical experience.

We are committed to safeguarding children and successful candidates will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.  Our commitment to safeguarding is underpinned by robust processes and checks which are in place across Leigh Academies Trust.

Recruitment and hiring during COVID-19:  Despite the challenges we face, recruitment and hiring will continue for all Leigh Academies Trust vacancies with as little disruption as possible over the coming weeks and months.  Applications will still be reviewed and interviews conducted in a timely manner, although interview activities will vary.  If you have any queries or concerns, please get in touch with the LAT Talent Team - talent@latrust.org.uk.

About Leigh Academies Trust

Leigh Academies Trust is one of the country’s largest and most-established multi-academy trusts operating across four ‘clusters’: North West Kent; Central Kent; South East London and Medway.

The Trust was formed in 2008 with the linking of the Leigh Technology Academy and Longfield Academy under one governing body. As of 1st April 2024, our Trust comprises 32 geographically organised academies (16 secondaries, 14 primaries and 2 special) educating 20,000 students, and employing over 2,500 talented staff. It contains primary, secondary and special academies and is highly inclusive and successful. Our mission is to deliver “education for a better world” by ensuring that young people in our academies have an excellent start in life regardless of their background or ability.

We are a non-profit making charitable company, based in Strood, Medway. The Trust exists to support and assist schools to build upon their existing strengths and to help them achieve rapid educational transformation. It has significant experience in running schools, and today includes both sponsored academies and schools which have chosen to convert to academy status.

In addition to providing high-quality educational opportunities for all of our children, aged from 2 months to 19 years, and their families, we are proud to provide many opportunities for lifelong learning.  These are delivered through the organisations under our umbrella: Thames Gateway Teaching School Hub, LAT Apprenticeships and Kent and Medway Training (KMT), which delivers routes into teaching. Our future plans are found in our Vision 2030 document available on our website.

Benefits for LAT employees
