English and Literacy Teacher - Initially Years 7 and 8 and 9: Part Time, Flexible: Outer London Payscale
An excellent opportunity to develop your practice in an outstanding school Required September 2018
We are seeking to appoint a primary teacher who is an outstanding practitioner with a background or interest in English and literacy to join our highly successful English Department. This is a new role with a very clear focus on improving reading and literacy skills. We aim to ensure students are fluent and confident readers, so that they are equipped for the future. Currently our Key Stage three curriculum is delivered in Years 7 and 8. You would work with the Assistant Head teacher responsible for Literacy and Communication and our Literacy Coordinator (a primary teacher). You would also work alongside a creative and innovative English department, which prides itself in delivering a broad and challenging curriculum. In this role, you would be working with small groups of students. This role is one which will support the expanding literacy work of the school as a result of the impact of appointing a literacy coordinator with a background in the primary sector. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire students to read and enable them to fully access the wider curriculum.
Park High is an 11-18 mixed multi-ethnic comprehensive school of almost 1600 students, situated in the London Borough of Harrow. There are very high achievement levels and excellent facilities. All classrooms are equipped with data projectors and screens. Ofsted (2013) judged the school outstanding in all areas and in early 2014 we were designated a National Teaching School. Staff development is widely regarded as “leading edge”: we have strong partnerships with universities and other higher education institutions and we actively support our staff in pursuing Masters and other higher qualifications.
