Salary: Ark Main/Upper Teaching Scales (£24,982 to £42,113)

Hours: Full-time/Part-time

This is an exciting opportunity to join the academy following the journey of Ark Helenswood and Ark William Parker, both previously single sex schools which have come together as one co-educational school with a mixed sixth form provision in Hastings. The English Department at Ark Alexandra follows the English Mastery Programme at Key Stage 3. Our students study challenging literary heritage texts alongside a structured grammar and Reading for Pleasure Programme. At Key Stage 4, students follow the AQA syllabus for English Language and English Literature. We are proud of our 7 year curriculum map; the skills and knowledge students learn at KS3 and KS4 prepare them for the challenge of A Level English Literature, a popular choice for our Sixth Form students.

Support and professional development are a priority at Ark A lexandra Academy and the English department is supported by the Ark network English advisor who, along with the Head of Department coaches and co-plans with teachers. We invest in our teachers by providing regular coaching, career planning and weekly training sessions.  We have an “open door” lesson policy at Ark Alexandra which ensures you receive extensive support and we promote peer-to-peer sharing of practice, all designed to help you be the best teacher you can be. We take the well-being of our staff seriously, as we recognise that teaching can be a challenging profession.
