BELIEVE IN TRADITIONAL VALUES, ACADEMIC RIGOUR AND VERY HIGH EXPECTATIONS? Want a SLT who visibly support staff? Want to teach pupils who behave impeccably at all times?
Visit! You will be blown away.
Then you will be interested in our oversubscribed 11-16 school in the centre of Bedford, and just 30 minutes from London. We are recruiting an English Teacher.
RESPECT, HONESTY, HIGH EXPECTATIONS
At BFS our values of respect, honesty and high expectations drive everything that we do and as a result our teachers enjoy impeccable behaviour in lessons and hardworking, highly motivated students. Open for nearly 6 years, Bedford Free School is a genuinely comprehensive school that provides a knowledge-based education for students of all backgrounds. We teach an unashamedly academic curriculum consisting of the best that has been thought and said, and as you would expect, English is at the heart of this.
With waiting lists in each year group and GCSE results placing us amongst the top schools locally, we have quickly become a hugely popular school. Demand for places is very high as parents want the combination of a BFS education and our distinctive small school feel for their children.
We’re looking for people who want to be the best. You will be excellent in the classroom and an inspiring character who is willing to lead by example, but will also contribute positively to wider school life. Most of all, you will be clear that education is a great leveler and work hard to help us achieve our goal of preparing every student to go to university.
We have a knowledge-based curriculum that is written in advance by the Head of Department with support from the team. You will be led by excellent leaders - both our Head of Department and second in charge of department are superb. You will be working with a team of subject-specialists.
The department is housed in 4 dedicated classrooms, each equipped with interactive whiteboards, and projectors. English teachers have a maximum of 5 classes and as well as their own classrooms, have a departmental office which provides a quiet working space and the opportunity for the close-knit team to come together regularly.
SUPPORT AND DEVELOPMENT
Career development is a priority - there will be opportunities to work on whole school priorities and gain the experience required to progress into senior leadership in due course. Additionally, we offer financial assistance for relevant post graduate study and support for middle leaders wishing to apply to become Specialist Leaders of Education. We have partnerships with a number of local training providers, the Institute for Teaching, and with Inspiration Trust in Norfolk. You will be joining us at an exciting time – in addition to our newly completed £2m extension, a local primary school joined our multi academy trust in April 2017, and we will be opening our second brand new secondary school soon. The growth of our MAT is sure to create exciting opportunities for our staff in the future.
There are no unwieldy and impossible marking policies, no written reports our pupils’ behaviour is impeccable supported by same-day whole-school sanctions where necessary - delivered centrally so teachers are not chasing, and Senior Leaders have a very high profile to ensure that you are supported to develop.
If our traditional approach and values of Respect, Honesty and High Expectations match yours, then we welcome visits to the school at any time and would encourage you to apply. For a confidential discussion about the position with the Executive Principal, please contact Esther Logan, PA to SLT, on 01234 332290 or email email@example.com to arrange an appointment
Early applications are encouraged as we reserve the right to interview early for this post should a suitable candidate apply. Short turnaround - deadline 9am - 23rd May 2018. We welcome applications for a part-time role.
