Who we are looking for:

We are looking for an experienced qualified English teacher with SEN experience to work in our new purpose built Anderson School. You will be responsible for high quality autism specific education and development for children with Autism. You will have the ability to plan and deliver a personalised curriculum that is relevant and motivating for children on the autism spectrum. You should be able to have potential to develop skills in order to work with pupils with complex needs in addition to autism spectrum disorder, such as ADHD, OCD and PDA.

One of the key goals of the school is to provide a tailored programme that enables all of our learners to progress in higher education or into full time paid employment. This role is pivotal in ensuring that students’ literacy skills are embedded throughout the curriculum. This is an exciting opportunity for The National Autistic Society (NAS) within Essex and surrounding areas. We will inspire students, families and employers through developing a national example of best practice in supporting young autistic people into employment.

The school’s provision incorporates an Enterprise Hub and a Diagnosis and Assessment Centre. It is a hub of knowledge and expertise incorporating strong links with leading universities and other educational establishments and is set on the NAS Enterprise Campus across 13 acres of land with all new purpose-built buildings and facilities.

To be considered for this role, you will need to be able to demonstrate experience working with young people with ASD and experience of successfully delivering a differentiated curriculum to pupils with a wide range of needs.

The start date for this role will be either 16th April 2018 or 30 August 2018.

Hours of work:

35 per week. Normal hours may be varied to meet the changing needs of the school. There may be occasions when additional hours are necessary to meet specific or special requirements.
