Job overview

Chobham Academy opened in September 2013 after joining the highly successful group of Harris academies. This 3-18 academy is a world class educational legacy of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Situated within the new East Village complex, the academy serves the community to be established in 2,800 new homes, along with existing communities in Newham, Waltham Forest and nearby London Boroughs. In July 2015, Ofsted awarded Chobham Academy, Outstanding across every category for its first inspection since the school opened.

We are looking for a qualified English teacher, or potentially someone looking to train towards the Lead Practitioner accreditation, who is passionate about education and has a flair for working with young people. Lead Practitioners are a high profile role in the academy who receive training and development to master their craft and become inspirational leaders.

We need teachers who are resilient, highly driven and self motivated, who will go the extra mile to ensure that students achieve beyond their own expectations.

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold QTS or equivalent and a relevant degree
  • Implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students.
  • Support the subject area as appropriate.
  • Monitor and support the overall progress and development of students.
  • Provide a motivating and structured learning experience, which will provide students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
  • Contribute significantly to raising standards of students' attainment as a teacher and form tutor.

For NQTs, we provide our highly successful Harris Federation NQT programme where you will train alongside other NQTs from across the Federation. This enables aspiring teachers to support and learn from each other, in the true collaborative spirit of Harris. There is a structure of support and challenge with customised professional learning, and every NQT has a professional mentor.
