Norlington School and 6th Form is a small 11-16 boy’s school with a mixed 6th form school. Over the past 5 years the school has transformed itself into one of the highest performing schools in the country and has been recognised by the Minister for State Schools on three separate occasions for student achievement.

Norlington was judged to be a 'good school' by Ofsted 2013 where;

· 'Students make excellent progress in Mathematics and Science.'

The school has an exceptional CPD programme, including dedicated curriculum time, and is committed to developing all staff as it continues its journey to becoming ‘Outstanding’ and a world class school. 

You will be joining an enthusiastic, dynamic and committed English team. The department has made considerable progress in improving English GCSE and KS3 results over the past 3 years, notably achieving 83% 4-9 for GCSE English Literature with 1 in 4 pupils achieving Grade 7-9.  Currently, we have an opportunity to strengthen the team further. There will be significant developmental opportunities available to the successful candidate.  This post would be suitable for both NQTs and Main Scale teachers.  The English department delivers A level courses in the 6th form.

January 2019:

  • An inspirational creative teacher of English      rated or with the potential to be “Outstanding”.
  • A candidate with the ability to teach      across KS3 and KS4 is essential with a willingness to teach A Level      desirable. 
  • Ability to teach Drama is desirable
  • An inclusive and innovative practitioner with high expectations      committed to sharing outstanding practice.
  • Willingness to co-ordinate enrichment      activities.
  • Dedication to raising standards and working      in partnership with others.
  • A 'can do' attitude.
