Job Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning:
· Planning and delivering lessons: This involves creating lesson plans, choosing appropriate materials and resources, adapting lessons, designing differentiated assignments to meet the needs of students.
· Delivery of ESL class that aligns with the school philosophy to students
· Curriculum and lesson planning, attend collaborative planning meeting as required with other teachers.
· Submission of plans and student work samples on the designated online academic platform.
· Assessing student progress: This includes giving quizzes, tests, and other assessments to evaluate student learning and identify areas where additional support is needed.
· Providing individualized instruction: This may involve working with students one-on-one or in small groups to provide additional support and help students achieve their language learning goals.
· Using a variety of teaching methods: This may involve using visual aids, hands-on activities, and other techniques to engage students and facilitate learning.
Providing cultural and language support: may involve helping students adjust to English speaking environments, answering questions about cultural customs, and providing support with language-related challenges.
This Role Requires
· Work closely with the homeroom teacher or other teachers to provide safe-guarding and pastoral care to all students.
· Help identify and support students who demonstrate, through their academic progress, development or well-being, that they need additional assistance.
· Information shared regularly with parents, in liaison with local Homeroom Teacher.
· Completion of two semester reports a year.
· Assist in preparation for assemblies and other student-led events.
Essential Duties
· Undertake your fair share – as allocated by the Principal office – of supervision duties
· Be responsible for one co-curriculum activities delivery after school per week (optional)
· Conduct Parent Teacher meetings as calendared by the school
· Be professionally consistent with the school’s mission and values.
· Note and apply the school’s policies and procedures as applicable
Qualifications and Education Requirements
· Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree with additional appropriate teaching Bachelor’s degree or above and teaching qualification
· At least 3 years’ experience in teaching, ideally as a ESL teacher
· Good communication skills
· Competence in working with a rich cultural mix of students and teachers
· Excellent IT skills, and knowledge of how to apply them in a school environment
Desirable
· Bachelors in Education/PGCE/TEFL/TESOL
· English as first language
· Familiarity with Chinese culture preferred.
· Operational competency of Chinese is desirable but not essential
· Experience in course design and curriculum writing
· Believes in the potential of each student, responsible, caring, student centered
· Strong work ethic, innovative, and creative
· 3+ years classroom experience at relevant grade
