This role demands meticulous attention to detail and exceptional organisational skills. Working closely with both internal and external stakeholders such as teaching staff, the local authority and external examination bodies, the Examinations & Admissions Officer co-ordinates and administers all aspects of internal and external examinations, including GCSEs, A-Levels, and other relevant assessments. This entails ensuring compliance with all JCQ regulations, from candidate registration to the arrangement of examination venues.

In addition to this, the Officer is tasked with developing and maintaining examination timetables, considering factors such as resource availability, regulations, and the needs of students and staff. This involves co-ordinating the scheduling of examination invigilators to ensure adequate coverage for all examination sessions. Integral to the role is the meticulous management of examination data, including maintaining accurate records of entries, candidate information, and results, while ensuring compliance with data protection regulations. Furthermore, the Officer plays a key role in results management, overseeing the distribution of examination results and supporting our Data Manager. Additionally, you will provide training and support to staff and invigilators on examination procedures, ensuring they are well-prepared and informed about any changes to examination board regulations and procedures.

Responsibilities also include managing inquiries from prospective students and parents, providing information about the school, its programs, and the admissions process. The Officer will guide applicants through the application process, ensuring all required documents and information are submitted accurately and in a timely manner. This is largely focused on Y7 applicants as Y12 applications are collected by the Sixth Form team. You will also deal with in year applications. You will work with the Local Authority to communicate admission decisions to applicants and provide data to the school about which students have been admitted.

Saint Gregory’s is a Catholic voluntary aided secondary school which was established by the Diocese of Clifton. It primarily serves designated Catholic parishes in Bath and North East Somerset, North West Wiltshire and the north of the County of Somerset and admits students of 11-18 years. We are a popular co-educational school, founded on Catholic Christian values and with a strong family and community ethos. These values envelop the learning of our students, providing them with an academic start to life that is supportive, nurturing and inspiring. Saint Gregory’s has a well-deserved reputation for academic excellence, outstanding pastoral care and an excellent enrichment programme.

In 2019 we were recognised once again as an ‘Outstanding’ secondary school in our Section 48 Diocesan Inspection, highlighting our school as a flourishing educational community where every child is valued and encouraged to grow as individuals. In November 2022, our first Ofsted inspection since July 2013 recognised St Gregory’s as Good overall with Outstanding judgements for Behaviour and Attitudes and Personal Development.

Our GCSE and A Level results are excellent, and not just in raw terms but also in the context of value-added. Such measures seek to identify the progress that every child makes during his or her time with us and show that our students make outstanding progress.

The achievement of our students consistently places our school as one of the top achieving state schools in the country. Students leaving Saint Gregory’s progress to some of the very best academic institutions including Oxford, Cambridge and the Russell Group but, more than this, they leave having acquired the academic success, confidence and skills they need to continue their educational or career journey of choice.

We are located at the southern gateway to the World Heritage City of Bath with beautiful views towards the Severn Estuary and over Bath. Access to the school is easy as it is on main bus routes and next to the Odd Down Bath Park and Ride terminus.

The World Heritage City of Bath itself needs little introduction. Over four million tourists a year come to visit its many attractions such as its Georgian architecture, its festivals, theatres, museums, restaurants and shops. It boasts excellent schools, rugby and football teams and Olympic standard training facilities at the University of Bath.

Bath is served by many attractive towns and villages and our staff and students come from diverse locations and backgrounds within our extensive catchment area.

There is a warm, welcoming family atmosphere at Saint Gregory’s that underpins our culture as a school. Teamwork is at the heart of everything we do and by working together we aim to provide the very best opportunities for all our students and staff.

If you would like to be a part of this successful and thriving school and are a well-qualified and highly motivated professional, who shares our sense of values, we would like to hear from you.
