Hillcrest Children’s Services is a national provider of specialist therapeutic children’s homes and schools for boys and girls with social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH).

We provide the following services to ensure positive outcomes for all children placed with us. Hillcrest Shifnal School and Hillcrest Glebedale are Ofsted ‘Good’ registered independent education providers offering education to over 65 pupils combined. Both sites offer a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum to boys and girls aged 5-19 years who have Social, Emotional and Mental health difficulties. Shifnal School strives to provide learning experiences and opportunities that will enhance the lives of all the students they educate; with the bespoke and balanced teaching allowing our students the ability to grow into confident and creative individuals. We are within commutable distance of Telford, Shrewsbury, Wolverhampton, Walsall, West Bromwich and other surrounding towns and villages.

Our specialist care, education and therapeutic services support children and young adults with complex needs and learning disabilities including autism and social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH). Our approach increases the likelihood of positive outcomes by creating an established platform for each pupil, foster child and resident to develop both personally and academically, preparing them for their transition to adulthood.

Working as an Exams Officer, you will jointly work between the two sites in Telford and Stoke. You will provide efficient and effective support within our schools throughout the exam cycle.  You will work as part of a team in a fast-paced school environment, this role would suit a confident and proactive administrator, ideally with experience with examinations.

The role is offered on a full-time permanent basis, term time only, working 37.5 hours per week over 5 days. The exact days and start time will be discussed during the interview but candidates must be available to start from 8.30 am.  Please note during the exam timetable there may be a need to start earlier.

Job Summary and Duties

  • Administering the examination process for the whole examination cycle
  • Working with teaching staff on exam entries and managing the exam timetables
  • Organising and booking rooms for exams ensuring they are available and set up
  • Ensuring all school records and documents are kept up to date and stored securely
  • Answering incoming calls and responding to both verbal and email enquires
  • Supporting other members of the administration team with various tasks
  • Welcoming visitors to the Service in a professional and polite manner

Key Skills Required

  • Have proven experience of working with an administrative position ideally having worked with examinations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbally
  • IT literate and be able to use Microsoft office proficiently
  • Hold a Full UK Driving Licence
