Required for immediate start

Alec Hunter Academy has a fantastic new opportunity for a high-calibre individual to join the school as Executive Assistant to the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Group.  To be considered for this role, you will need to have significant experience of working as a P.A. or in a high-level administrative position and demonstrate very effective written and verbal communication skills.  Previous experience in a school or other education establishment would be an advantage but is not essential.

We are seeking someone with the following qualities:

  • Impeccable organisational skills;
  • Full range of ICT skills (Microsoft Office essential; SIMS desirable);
  • Intuitively proactive, determined and assertive;
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise and work to tight deadlines;
  • Confidence to produce accurate work to a high standard with excellent attention to detail;
  • Previous experience of taking and producing timely and accurate minutes;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Flexible and unflappable in responding to the varied needs of the school

In return, we can offer you a friendly, satisfying working environment where children's learning and wellbeing are at the centre of all that we do. You can also be assured of on-going professional development.

The role will require attendance at one late meeting per week to take minutes but there is some scope for flexibility around daytime working hours to accommodate this. It is expected that the successful applicant will line manage other employees within the admin team, take the initiative in a range of different issues affecting the school and will be able to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Alec Hunter Academy is a mixed, 11-16 comprehensive school, graded ‘good’ by Ofsted in 2017, with an established reputation as a warm and welcoming community. The school works in partnership with Saffron Walden County High School, one of the highest performing schools in Essex, through its membership of the Saffron Academy Trust.

Our school is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. A Disclosure and Barring Service check at enhanced level will be required for this post. If you would like to visit the school prior to making an application, please do not hesitate to contact us to arrange this.
