Job overview

Community Mentoring and Support (CMAS) is a Community Interest Company that strives to meet the unmet needs of children, young people and their families in the UK. We are currently looking to appoint an inspirational and strategic leader to work across our schools in the South West. We currently operate 2 independent schools (age range 13-16) with plans to expand in the future.

This exciting new role will be primarily based in Gloucestershire but will evolve to include our Devon sites and further afield as the Company continues to grow.

The Executive Headteacher is the schools most senior manager with overall responsibility for running the CMAS schools. The role of Executive Headteacher is to facilitate headteachers and Senior Leadership teams in each of the schools to ensure effective provision to meet the individual needs of the young people on roll and to ensure collaborative practice across the schools that enables effective communication and systems to facilitate efficient running of provisions.

The schools are currently organised into two parallel schools located in Devon and Gloucester each school run from 3 sites located across the county. The Executive Headteacher is charged with responsibility ensuring that all the elements of the school’s work, it’s strategic planning, curriculum, staff training, working conditions for its staff and pupils all serve to ensure that teachers teach good lessons to pupils who are ready and able to learn.

This job will suit a highly experienced teacher who is motivated by coaching young people to be the best version of themselves. The students we work with are those considered hard to reach and young people who have struggled to ‘fit in’ within mainstream school, therefore their learning journey is highly personalised and supportive of their wellbeing. Sessions are delivered through one-to-one sessions and small group work sessions.
