Oaklands is an Outstanding special school serving the London Borough of Hounslow that provides specialist education to students with severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple difficulties and autism. Oaklands has both a Primary school (New Oaks) located in Isleworth, and a Secondary school (High Oaks) on our main Gresham Road site in Hounslow. We can cater for students aged from 4 to 19. Our primary school is opening gradually with years’ nursery through to Year 4 open in September 2021. The primary school will not be fully open until September 2023.

Due to our rapid and continued expansion, we are looking to appoint highly skilled and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to work in our primary department with our nursery and reception aged children. Successful applicants will join a team of teaching assistants in a teacher led unit using a key-working model. Each teaching assistant will coordinate the education of 2 or 3 pupils as well as working across the unit in a team.

You must be passionate about working with students with special needs and have previous experience of working in a special school or similar environment. You must be competent with using Makaton signing and symbols for communication and essentially have experience of working with students with autism and complex needs. We believe that all of our students are capable of making outstanding progress and we want to appoint individuals who share our belief.
