Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a hardworking, energetic and innovative Faculty Leader for Creative Arts at Thomas Knyvett College

We are looking for an inspirational teacher who is committed to bringing out the best in every student.

Thomas Knyvett College sets high standards for behaviour, promoting traditional values that will be important for life-long achievement. We believe that academic attainment flourishes in this atmosphere, enabling students to develop into confident and well-rounded young adults.

The Howard Partnership Trust was the first soft federation Academy Chain in the country, led by an outstanding school and we are highly committed to this way of working. The distinctive feature of The Howard Partnership Trust is that the schools within our Multi Academy Trust all retain their own unique features in order to meet the needs of the communities which they serve. However, the vision and values that underpin the schools are exactly the same: namely to ensure that consistently high quality teaching facilitates excellent learning within an inclusive, caring, vibrant environment. We all aim to ‘Bring out the Best’ in our students. These are the hallmarks of any one of The Howard Partnership Trust schools.

What Ofsted said:"Students arrive at the college with attainment that is much lower than average. By the time they leave, their examination results are above average. This reflects the rapid progress they make in all year groups." Ofsted 2013

Thomas Knyvett College is a successful, over-subscribed school. We have made rapid and sustained progress over the last five years. However, we are not complacent and seek to ensure that the next five years are as productive as possible. As an exceptional learning community we have developed our vision and we are as ambitious as ever for our students and staff. We see the College as the central resource for learning and support in the local community and continue to strive for excellence in all we do.

Whatever your present or future connection with the College may be, we want you to be part of our achievements, working together as part of the Thomas Knyvett community and sharing in our successes. If you are a student, please be assured that throughout your school career we will know your ability and will provide you with clear knowledge and understanding of your next steps. We will support you every day and you will have fun through your learning. If you are a teacher, please instil in the students a passion for your subject and continue to develop your craft. For all other members of the Thomas Knyvett community, please assist in ensuring that we develop well rounded young people in the myriad of ways you can.

“Do not judge me by my successes, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again.” – Nelson Mandela

At Thomas Knyvett we hope we make all our students feel, that they have the ability and support to achieve to a very high level. We work hard to ensure that they have the skills and self-belief to compete and flourish in a changing educational and social environment, no matter how challenging.

We work to ensure that teachers deliver consistently good lessons and keep abreast of new techniques and research that impact positively on student progress. Students will be asked and encouraged to ask challenging and stimulating questions about the world in which they live and the teacher will adapt in real time to meet the needs of every student.

At Thomas Knyvett we have absolute belief in our young people and we experience on a day-to-day basis the fulfilment that working with young people can bring. However, we fully appreciate that raising a child can be tough at times and sometimes educating a child can be too. Therefore, it is clear that we need to work in partnership. We understand the demands of modern parenting. By talking about the importance of values such as pride, respect, open mindedness, unity and determination, together we can help our young people make good decisions supporting and enhancing the work we are doing at Thomas Knyvett.

With exciting times ahead we continue to drive the “Thomas Knyvett: not outstanding yet experience” agenda forward. Our facilities have been upgraded considerably and we are working with Brooklands to extend provision for Spelthorne learners. Our curriculum is constantly reviewed in line with current DfE guidance to ensure we motivate and inspire all our students. We are all excited by the journey we are on and hope you find our website an effective tool to learn more about us.

Please feel free to visit the school. Send an email to tkc@thomasknyvett.org and we will organise a mutually convenient time.
