FEMALE TEMPORARY ASSISTANT LEARNING COACH

1275 hours per annum, worked over 39 weeks

Salary Range: £14,665 - £15,874 per annum

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated female member of staff to join the College’s Special Educational Needs Coordination Team.  You will support a female student with her special educational needs (primarily medical), thereby helping her to reach her full potential.  Additionally, you will support other students with a range of Special Educational Needs, including learning, emotional, social and behavioural difficulties.


You will have high expectations of student achievement and behaviour, good communication skills and a commitment to working as part of a team.  


This post is open to female applicants only and is in compliance with Para 1 Sch 9 of Equality Act 2010 relating to Occupational Requirements. 


The post is offered on a temporary basis subject to the specified student’s continued attendance at the College and/or the result of any review of her medical needs.  Full training will be given.

Newton Abbot College is a mixed 11 –19 Academy with over 1000 students on roll with a large and diverse Sixth Form. Our recent full section 5 Ofsted inspection in April 2019 described us as, "a  harmonious school where pupils are thriving" and went on to note that, "pupils are respectful of each other and adults.  Their behaviour is consistently of a high standard."  

The College has undergone rapid change including significant improvement to examination results at Key Stages 4 and 5; levels of progress over the last few years have been outstanding and are predicted to improve further over the coming years. Newton Abbot College was originally established in 1904 as the Newton Abbot town Grammar School, becoming Knowles Hill School in 1975 with the introduction of the comprehensive system.  In 2008, the school became Newton Abbot College.  Along with a new identity and uniform came a strong ethos of the highest expectations for student learning and progress.  In 2011 we gained Academy status.  Today, the College offers 11-19 year old students a challenging curriculum in a calm, purposeful, well-ordered community.
