Job overview
We are looking for a suitably experienced fencing coach to help develop the fencing ability of pupils from year 4 to year 8.
As one of the country’s leading independent schools, the Dragon places high expectations on all its staff and demands that the whole community works together to ensure that the School remains at the forefront of educational excellence and innovation. Although the Dragon is the UK’s largest co-educational boarding and day preparatory school with 580 day pupils and 250 boarders, its deeply personalised approach to each child, and its ethos of inclusivity, openness and tolerance encourages day pupils and boarders to enrich each other’s school experience.
Understanding the meaning of community, developing an awareness of wider society and acquiring the essential qualities of kindness, emotional intelligence, respect and responsibility are central to the School’s all-round educational offer. The Dragon is non-selective on admission and prides itself on outstanding academic, pastoral and co-curricular outcomes for pupils in its pre-preparatory department (for pupils aged 4-7 years) and in its preparatory department (8-13 years).

Dragon School is one of Britain’s leading preparatory schools, offering a first-class day and boarding education for girls and boys aged 4-13 years. Located in the heart of the city of Oxford, the Dragon provides a distinctive educational experience that not only celebrates childhood and the joy of learning, but also prepares young people with the skills to thrive in a rapidly changing world and continue to ‘Reach for the Sun’ (Arduus ad Solem). Academic excellence for all sits at the heart of a Dragon education. As a school, the Dragon is constantly seeking to innovate, developing the curriculum both in and out of the classroom. Dragon QUEST, the Saturday enrichment programme, is a unique opportunity to stretch pupils further, giving children the freedom to learn new and unfamiliar skills, from beekeeping to exploring anthropology; we are only limited by our imaginations. Equally, ‘giving back’ is integral to being a grounded Dragon.
