Job overview

This is an opportunity for an accounts professional to play a key role ensuring the provision of an accurate and effective financial support service within an exceptional school.

As the Finance Assistant, you will join a busy support and finance team reporting to the Finance Manager and assisting with all aspects of school accounting but with particular responsibilities for purchase ledger functions, accruals and prepayments, expenses, credit card and trips administration.

The Finance Assistant is required to train staff to use the purchase order system, and to liaise with parents, staff, suppliers and external hirers, so the ability to prioritise workload and develop and maintain positive working relationships with others is an essential aspect of the role.

The role requires previous experience of working in a finance department, ideally either with or working towards an accountancy/financial qualification (e.g. AAT) as well as an understanding of accounting software (PS Financials /SAGE Software or equivalent).

You will also need to have an all-round accounting background, which includes experience with sales and purchase ledgers, the ability to do journals, accruals and prepayments and the production of monthly management reports.
