About the Role:  

City of Bristol College is seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and proactive Finance Team Leader. This position is full time, will be based at the SBSA and will lead and manage the transactional finance team.

What you’ll be responsible for/what we are looking for: 

The role will involve providing:

- Lead and manage the College’s transactional accounting team (currently 7 staff) covering; Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cashiering, Banking and Purchase ordering functions to provide effective and professional control for income, cash, banking and purchase related matters across the College. This element of the role is expected to be hands on, and to include, when appropriate, providing cover for absence within the team in addition to day to day people management and problem solving.

- To also coordinate with Finance Business Partners, manage the monthly closing of ledgers and posting of month end information including internal recharges, and general AP accruals to ensure accuracy of financial statements and routine reconciliation of control accounts.

- Monitor regular low value routine expenditure and establish best value preferred suppliers for routine low value expenditure to ensure that COBC achieves value for money and communicate preferred suppliers for routine purchasing activity to requisitions.

- To manage and control the College’s accounting and purchase to payment system (APTOS 10) – including liaison with the accounting package provider and resolution of system related issues.

- To manage general office administration duties such as archiving, filing, staff reviews, intranet page updates.

We are looking for someone who has a qualification equivalent to AAT Level 4 or higher with experience of lead a transactional accounting functions. In addition, the applicant should be confident in working in a fast paced environment, with changing priorities.    

You will also need to be able to build and maintain excellent working relationships with stakeholders, at all levels, internally and externally, as well as other members of College staff and students.
