Appointment of a Founding Head

Westminster School, one of the world’s leading academic schools and Hong Kong Melodious Education Technology Group (HKMETG), a Hong Kong based educational group, seek an inspirational Founding Head to launch and lead Chengdu Westminster School.

Opening in September 2020, this unique venture will bring Westminster’s world-renowned educational philosophy to Chengdu, one of China’s most vibrant cities. A co-educational boarding and day school, Chengdu Westminster School will offer a world-leading bilingual educational experience on a purpose built campus. Chengdu Westminster will be open to local Chinese students aged 1 to 18, with a Nursery and Kindergarten; a Primary and Junior High School based on the Chinese National Curriculum, with elements of a Westminster education; and a Senior High School .

This is an exciting opportunity to establish and shape the development of a school aiming to become one of the finest bilingual institutions in the world. With the full support and educational expertise of Westminster School and HKMETG, the Founding Head will establish Chengdu Westminster School as a thriving community where all students will learn the value of scholarship and the skills of intellectual enquiry, independent learning and civic engagement within the context of one of the world’s most rapidly advancing economies and fastest developing societies.

The successful candidate will combine a track record of highly successful headship and, ideally, experience of working in both the UK and China. He or she will possess the academic ability, cultural awareness and global perspective to inspire the entire community in Chengdu. First-class communication skills with the gravitas to act as a compelling ambassador are crucial, as are the commercial mindset, experience and drive to establish this new venture. A genuine resonance with Westminster’s educational values and a commitment to embedding these in Chengdu is essential.
