Job overview
Flexible hours, term-time only
SES Water supplies water to 707,000 people in the London boroughs of Sutton, Merton and Croydon, as well as across East Surrey and parts of Kent. But we don’t just supply water. We feel it’s really important to educate adults and children alike about the value of this most precious resource. We think it is essential that as good citizens, everyone knows where water comes from, understands its importance and the pressures our water resources are under – especially in the water-stressed south east region.
We are looking for a self-employed part-time tutor to join our friendly team, delivering our very successful education programme which is accredited by the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom. Activities include talks, assemblies and workshops for Key Stage 2 and 3 pupils within our supply area, as well as hosting school visits at our Bough Beech Water Treatment Works & Reservoir. As well as schools, our programme also includes engaging with adult community groups and participating in initiatives such as Junior Citizen and our annual open days.
The successful candidate will either be a fully-qualified teacher or someone with classroom experience such as a teaching assistant. The ideal applicant would have recent Key Stage 2 or Key Stage 3 experience. You will be confident, enthusiastic, highly organised and have excellent communication skills. A car owner with a full UK driving licence is essential, as travel to schools within our supply area is required. A reasonable level of physical fitness is necessary to host the treatment works visits.
Full training and background information will be provided.
Please give an indication of your preferred working days and expected total monthly working hours in your application.
Please upload your CV wherever possible.
