St Joseph’s Primary Murwillumbah is a single stream, co-ed K-6 primary school with enrolment in 2020 of 155 students.


Applications are invited from suitably qualified teachers for the following position:

Full-Time Temporary Teaching position available for 2020 school year


Role Expectations:

● Support the mission, teachings and ethos of the Catholic Church’s work in schools.


The successful candidates will be a highly professional, growth-oriented practitioner with a demonstrated ability to:

● Contemporary approach to classroom teaching and co-teaching practices;

● Contribute to the collaborative culture of the school as a Professional Learning Community;

● Communicate effectively with staff, students and parents;

● Assess and provide feedback on student learning;

● Implement positive and supportive behaviour management practices;

● Use technology effectively and creatively to support student learning;

● Hold current NESA Teacher Accreditation;

● Current NSW Working with Children Check


Ideally applicants will be a committed Christian who worships regularly in their local Christian community, who will support the mission, ethos and teachings of the Catholic Church’s work in school.

Applicants are also asked to submit a written application of how they would address the above criteria (no more than 4 A4 pages) and to include nomination of 3 referees, including one from your parish priest in your regular place of worship and one from your current employer.

About St Joseph’s Primary School SOUTH MURWILLUMBAH

The Sisters of Joseph opened St Joseph’s Primary School in 1970 as part of the South Murwillumbah Parish in the northern New South Wales town of Murwillumbah South. The first lay Principal was appointed in1983. St Joseph’s School is a co-educational K-6 Catholic School with a current enrolment in excess of 150 students and is part of the Murwillumbah Sacred Heart Parish. Teachers who continually strive to achieve excellence in student outcomes are highly valued by the school community.

St Joseph’s Primary School, following major renovations and extension in the first decade of the twenty first century, now presents as a modern, well-resourced primary school,with state of the art resources and facilities that provide a most attractive learning environment for the students. A library, shaded outdoor learning areas and quality ICT resources in all classrooms, all contribute to the creation of an educational facility that maximises students’ abilities to strive for their personal best.

Curriculum

A comprehensive educational program based and delivered in accordance with NSW Board of Studies Teaching and Educational Standards Syllabuses, form the foundations of all curriculum content at St Joseph’s School. A high level of ICT curriculum access and support is evident throughout the school and there is a deliberate emphasis on Literacy and Numeracy programs for all students.
