Job overview

This is a newly created post at Lady Barn House School and is designed to attract candidates who would like to gain experience in a top prep school and to provide support for the PE/Games department.

Enthusiasm, experience and expertise in one of our main school sports for girls, namely netball and hockey, will be a distinct advantage. It is in the nature of the post that the person appointed will also provide support in a number of other areas; indeed, this should be regarded as an attraction of the role. It is expected that the person appointed will also be willing to contribute to the school's co-curricular programme, including attendance on residential visits in term time, if required.

It is expected that the person appointed will start at the beginning of September 2019 and will work with us preferably until the end of the summer term in early July. Accommodation is not available but there are a number of benefits associated with the post, including a full lunch provided in the dining room free of charge. Applications should include:

A completed application form (CVs are not an acceptable alternative) including the names, addresses, e-mail and telephone numbers of two professional referees, one of which must be one of your current employers or a person in authority at your school.   A brief letter of application addressed to the Head (no more than one side of A4) in which you explain why you have applied for this role and what particular skills, attributes and experience you would bring to it.

Please contact Mrs K Gardner, HR Manager, for further details of the post.  Contact details can be found within the job description document.

The closing date for applications is 10 am on Monday 4th February.

Applicants called to interview will be required to bring evidence of their identity and qualifications. References will be sought only on applicants who accept an invitation to interview, though applicants can opt for references not to be taken up prior to an interview. It is anticipated that interviews will be held in the week beginning 11th February. If you have not heard from us by this date you may assume that on this occasion regrettably your application has been unsuccessful.

The appointment will be subject to a satisfactory medical check and confirmation of relevant qualifications. The post will be confirmed on receipt of all references and of a satisfactory outcome from an enhanced DBS check.

Please note that the school’s Safeguarding Policy is available on the school website and should be read by all applicants.

There is an opportunity to visit the school to meet Mrs Massam, the Head of Girls Games, prior to making an application. This will be on Thursday 24th and 31st January at 4pm and you should contact Mrs Gardner if you wish to attend. If you are unable to make this time, please contact Mrs Gardner as it may be possible to offer an alternative time.
