About Mater Dei Catholic Primary School

Mater Dei Catholic Primary school is an independent, co-educational school located in Wagga Wagga, in the Riverina region of New South Wales. The school provides a faith-based education to approximately 400 children, ages 5 to 12, from Kindergarten to Year 6.

The first intake of students began in 1990 when the school operated out of a carpark using four portable classrooms. At this time Mater Dei only accepted students for Kindergarten to Year 4. The school's slogan is 'One in Spirit'.

Facilities

Facilities at Mater Dei include an onsite and online library, healthy and wholesome canteen, multi-purpose function centre equipped with a commercial kitchen, audio/visual equipment and full sized netball/basketball court, specialised music and drama rooms, outdoor playground and a sports field.

Curriculum

Mater Dei's curriculum is mandated through seven key learning areas that are Religious Education, Mathematics, Science and Technology, English, Creative Arts, Human Society and Its Environment and Personal Development, Heath and Physical Education. The school also offers its students a range of extra-curricular activities including the school band and choir, after school speech and drama lessons, as well as various sporting event such as swimming, cross country and athletics carnivals.

The central purpose for Mater Dei is to provide a holistic education that develops each child "spiritually, academically. Socially, physically and emotionally, in a community that is underpinned by Gospel values."
