•  Permanent, Part-time, Term-time (38 weeks per year) contract

A vacancy has arisen for an experienced General Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly yet busy catering team at North Town Primary School and Nursery, in the centre of Taunton.

At North Town School we prepare approximately 300 meals daily for the primary school and nursery, using fresh ingredients to provide a healthy, well balanced meal for pupils in our large purpose built modern kitchen.

The successful applicant will be an active part of the catering team and assist the Catering Manager to provide a school meals service to the pupils and staff. They should be suitability qualified and possess an up to date Level 2 Food Hygiene and Handling Certificate. 

Working as part of a team your daily tasks will mainly consist of:

• Food preparation,

• Maintaining high standards of presentation of food and replenishing counters keeping them looking attractive throughout the service time,

• Serving, cleaning and washing up,

• General kitchen duties,

• Demonstrating patience when working with and serving food to young children, and

• Undertaking all basic training and work effectively with colleagues as part of a team.
