Last year our students achieved 84% 5 A*- C (Inc. English & Maths) at GCSE and 55% A* - B at A-Level. We have a strong ethos, based on high expectations and standards for all, a committed and supportive staff who deliver high quality, engaging lessons and well-behaved students with excellent attitudes to learning.
We were graded Outstanding in every category by Ofsted in March 2017.
We seek to appoint an ambitious, enthusiastic and highly motivated teacher of Geography, with a real passion for teaching and learning. The successful candidate will be able to promote the highest standards of achievement and have a good knowledge and understanding of recent developments in the subject. The Geography department is committed to fieldwork and runs numerous trips in Key Stage 3 and 4 to study rivers, coasts, tourism and flooding amongst other topics, a week-long residential for Year 12 students in Dorset and a bi-annual trip to Iceland.
Geography is a popular choice at GCSE and A-level, and we are constantly looking to widen the experiences we offer to students. You will join an innovative, capable team and teach enthusiastic, well-disciplined young people, committed to their learning and proud to be part of The Bishop’s Stortford High School.
The school provides a supportive environment in which both newly qualified and experienced teachers have excellent opportunities to develop their careers. A formidable range of extra-curricular activities are available to students which include exchanges, cultural visits, first class fixture cards in all major sports, a diverse and high quality music and drama programme, DofE, Model UN conference, Young Enterprise, debating, public speaking and many more.
