The Hive College is based in Erdington, Birmingham and is a Specialist Further Education College for learners aged 19-25 years with Special Educational Needs and disabilities. In November 2023 we were graded Outstanding following an Ofsted Inspection.

We constantly strive for excellence, seeking innovative and collaborative ways of delivering the curriculum. As part of our on-going development of a highly successful specialist college, we have a Work Placement Supervisor / Teaching Assistant vacancy to join our team of professional and dedicated people.

The college is a very happy and positive working environment. All staff are friendly and very supportive, we have excellent facilities and a superb environment to support teaching and learning and prepare our students for adulthood.

The right candidate will have:

  • An NVQ Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
  • A good level of English and Maths
  • A good understanding of how students learn and develop in education
  • The ability to support the work placement team and teachers in meeting the needs of all students, including mentoring, pastoral care and assisting with the physical care of students as and when required
  • The ability to work with individuals and small groups of students
  • Excellent communication and written skills with high expectations of learning and behaviour
  • The ability to support students in the workplace/classroom
