Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and well-qualified individual to join our successful and expanding performing arts community and the position would also suit an experienced professional who wishes to gain experience prior to entering into the Education Sector.

At King Edward’s we believe that Drama, and indeed many of the performing arts, builds confidence, develops communication skills, and fosters creativity and critical thinking. We inspire excellence through trips to see live productions at local and national theatres and we host theatre workshops run by professionals, creating an environment where pupils can hone and refine their skills.

For 1st and 2nd form, Drama is a weekly curriculum subject. The emphasis is on collaboration and creativity. Pupils develop their acting and presentation skills by creating and performing a wide range of roles and responding to stimuli. There is a biannual Lower School Drama Showcase where every single pupil performs in a production with their classmates on the Charter Hall stage in front of friends and family. As our pupils move through the School, Drama remains a popular and exciting option, where they can gain experience and a range of qualifications to further at University or out into the world of work.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic role model who has experience of working with children and young people in a Performing Arts context, such as directing, theatre workshop facilitating or choreography. They will also show a strong desire to pass on their skills and passion for Dance/Drama to young people.

In return, we offer accommodation, board and a salary in return for variable hours and days worked to support musical events and other functions within the school calendar. We also offer free car parking, free use of our gym, swimming pool and sports facilities, all meals and snacks on duty and a Cycle to Work Scheme. Paid additional residential duties may also be available for the right candidate.

King Edward's School is a co-educational boarding and day 11-18 school for some 400 pupils, around 60% of whom are full boarders. We are an HMC school and proud of our unique heritage and place among British co-educational independent schools.

To apply, please complete the Application Form or for further details, visit our website www.kesw.org or contact   the HR Department on HR@kesw.org telephone  01428 686358.

Closing date for applications: 12 noon Monday 13th July 2020. Interviews will take place on the 16th of July, remotely

Applications will be considered on receipt and early application is recommended as we reserve the right to interview and offer the position.

King Edward’s School Witley is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.
