Job overview
As a traditional girls’ boarding school with a modern twist, we offer an enriching, caring and creative environment where every girl is challenged and supported in equal measure. All staff are encouraged to get involved in all aspects of school life.
This post offers an excellent opportunity for graduates wishing to develop a career in teaching or pastoral care, working as a residential member of our Lower School Boarding House (Years 7 and 8).
In this role, you will be resident within the House during term time, apart from times agreed with the Housemistress/master, and to be on duty in the House to provide support for the girls at key times during the day, evening and weekends. You will also organise and deliver a range of activities for the girls, assist with morning and bedtime routines, and help to keep the boarding house looking its best at all times.
In addition to your pastoral role, you will be allocated to another department in the School during an agreed number of periods during the School week. This is likely to be a Support Department where you will be required to utilise administration, IT and organisational skills.
In return, we offer an excellent working environment, a modern one-bedroom studio flat (inclusive of all bills), meals on duty, professional development opportunities and a salary of circa £15,465. This post is offered on a two-year, fixed-term contract from September 2022 to July 2024.

Ofsted report
“There is positive leadership and a proactive approach to the health and well-being of the boarders. The health centre provides an outstanding service to the whole school. The welfare of pupils is at the heart of all the work that is done and the systems that are in place to support this aim. The pupils are well protected from harm with a written child protection policy that is regularly reviewed. The headmistress is the designated person in charge of child protection and works closely in this area with other members of the leadership team. Good attention is paid to overall health and safety matters supported by robust policies and comprehensive risk assessments.”
