Job overview

Claremont Fan Court School seeks to employ an individual with exceptional sporting skills. This is a first rate opportunity to gain one year’s experience in an educational setting by contributing to our sports and co-curricular programme from September 2022.

The successful candidate will assist PE and coaching staff across the curriculum. Experience playing or coaching football is essential. You may be asked to train, to umpire and/or coach in another of our main sports (rugby, cricket, netball, gymnastics or lacrosse). The successful candidate may also have experience in strength and conditioning.

You will be flexible, positive in your approach to all games, and able to work as part of a close knit team. Conscientious and with a can-do approach, your enthusiasm for sport will set a good example to our pupils. You will be willing to participate fully in a busy and successful school.

Working Monday to Friday and every Saturday morning (away fixtures occasionally merge into the afternoon) in term time (34 weeks), you will coach one or more teams during the week and assist with Saturday morning sports. You will also give support with some sports administration and whole school staff duties and activities during the week.

In return, you can expect all the benefits of a thriving independent school including a competitive salary, generous pension, free parking, lunches in term time and a cycle scheme.

Further details of the role and how to apply can be found under the 'working at Claremont' link at www.claremontfancourt.co.uk

Closing date:  Sunday 26 June 2022. We may hold interviews prior to the closing date so early applications are encouraged.

Claremont Fan Court School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the school is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.

About Claremont Fan Court School

We are a co-educational School, for children from 2½ to 18 years, situated just outside Esher, Surrey. The School is set in the historic landscaped grounds of the Claremont Estate.

Claremont Fan Court School was founded on a Christian ethos and we welcome children from all faiths and from none. We develop in our pupils the intellectual, cultural, physical and spiritual qualities that children must possess in their pursuit of excellence. Our ethos recognises, cares for, and values the potential of every pupil such that they can do more than they think is possible.

Vision and values

Character Education is at the heart of our educational programme at Claremont Fan Court School. Growth in right-thinking and acting opens the way to a more truthful and expansive way of looking at oneself and others, providing a new perspective on perceived limitations and capabilities. Claremont Fan Court School aims to recognise, care for and value the potential of every student, fostering their love of learning and supporting them to high academic achievement, as well as furthering their education in sporting and cultural activities.

We have developed a unique programme for teaching character. This programme focuses specifically on a set of core values and recognises that developing these requires a comprehensive educational approach. A new character quality is introduced each month. The quality is used within assemblies, discussions, activities and curriculum work.

Our extensive co-curricular programme, offering over 60 co-curricular opportunities, enables every pupil to experience activities beyond the classroom in order to tap broader interests and extend talents.

The ISI Report January 2017 noted that: ‘Pupils show pride in their achievements in curricular and co-curricular activities . . . Parents and pupils agreed that these opportunities enhance pupil achievement’.
