Grounds and Maintenance Officer - Good Samaritan Catholic College, BLI BLI We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated person to deliver a range of services including but not limited to: • Conduct minor landscaping works, including drains, paths, garden wall edges (including carpentry and concrete works) • Assist in the preparation of operational budgets and routine financial reports for the College’s or College's grounds and property. • Coordinate, prioritise and perform actions arising from and pertaining to on-line or recorded maintenance requests on the School Portal Maintenance log, providing progress and finalisation reports and updates to the Principal or Business Manager. • Provide operational input into the planning, preparation and development of school or colleges grounds. • Work closely with the Business Manager in the first instance and the Principal, contributing to reactive and proactive maintenance programming. • supervise and review the work of contractors on site, advising the Business Manager on progress and the verification of completed work. • Establish, perform and report on inventory management for grounds and property supplies and materials. • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements including maintenance of a safe work environment; safe storage and handling of chemicals, fertilisers and fuels; bring to appropriate attention any safety hazards; manage equipment records; and maintain tools and equipment for repair services (as per manufacturer’s service manual). • Assist with a range of duties that include clearing and hosing of drains and gutters; collection of waste, food and paper on College grounds as agreed by relevant staff and the Principal, Business Manager and/or nominated delegate; undertaking immediate action cleaning duties (outside the normal operating hours of the College’s cleaning staff); assist with requirements for significant events such as examinations, plays and major sporting events. • Support with a variety of security duties at the school that involve using and maintaining the school security systems; as well as locking and unlocking buildings. On staff security roster to receive after hours security calls. • Liaise with various internal and external personnel (e.g. tradespersons) Staff, Parents and students on issues of lost property and damage to facilities • Other duties as directed by the Principal or Business Manager Skills and Experience • Similar experience in a previous role with strong client services skills and significant land management/grounds keeping experience • Vehicle and valid Open Class Drivers Licence • Working at Heights Certificate • Agricultural Chemicals Commercial Operators Licence or similar, as required by State Legislation • Ability to meet targets to prescribed deadlines and prioritise work programs. The successful candidates will possess a strong work ethic, achieve highest level of safety, quality of work and have a genuine passion for excellent customer service.
