The General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland (GTCNI) is the statutory body for the teaching profession and is dedicated to enhancing the status of teaching and promoting the highest standards of professional conduct and practice.
The ROLE:
The Council is seeking to appoint a visionary Registrar/Chief Executive with exceptional management, leadership and communication skills to oversee the successful delivery of the Council’s key strategic priorities, as the Council enters a new era of teacher professionalism and regulation.
REMIT:
In the prestigious role of Registrar the post-holder is responsible for ensuring the high quality delivery of GTCNI’s key functions/services:
• maintaining a register of teachers
• the approval of qualifications
• the regulation of the profession
• providing advice and recommendations to DE/Ministers and employing authorities
In the role of the Accounting Officer of an NDPB the Registrar is responsible for: -
• overseeing financial and business planning
• ensuring the organisation operates effectively and efficiently, with exemplary governance
• development of policies and compliant practices
In addition, the Registrar will present and promote an enhanced profile of the Council through the development of solid stakeholder relationships. They will also advocate on behalf of GTCNI within the education system and the wider public sector of Northern Ireland.
