Job overview

Located in the village of Aldenham, on the outskirts of North West London, amongst 48 acres of parkland, Edge Grove is a leading, co-educational preparatory school that prides itself on delivering a vibrant and exciting education for pupils aged three to thirteen. The school is now seeking to appoint its next Head from September 2023 and is searching for an inspirational and charismatic leader with the ability to engender a strong sense of community and building on Edge Grove’s many strengths whilst responding effectively to the challenges posed by the changing landscape.

Edge Grove prides itself on the values of independence, good manners, respect for others, resilience and a spirit of adventure, principles which not only echo the school’s long history and rich traditions, but also provide a strong foundation upon which to build an exciting future. A truly forward-thinking school, the creativity of pupils and staff is drawn upon to help drive the school towards its potential, and the academically rigorous and dynamic curriculum challenges all pupils towards both individual and team success, all underwritten by the unconditional support of all members of the school community. Although proud of its Christian heritage, the school embraces all religions and cultures and encourages pupils to celebrate one another’s differences, recognising the value that diversity can bring.

The next Head will inherit an ambitious school with a proven track record of accomplishments and will have the exciting opportunity to capitalise on this established reputation and further develop Edge Grove as a market-leading preparatory school. The Head will work closely with a supportive Board of Governors to design and implement an agile development plan and will have strategic oversight of the school’s direction and operations in a rapidly changing educational landscape. Balancing the traditions of the school with its future aspirations, the Head will use the school’s strong ethos and guiding principles to lead staff and pupils towards continued success. The Head will compellingly communicate the school’s offering to parents and oversee marketing and admissions processes whilst working closely with bursarial staff on matters financial and operational. This person will also uphold the very highest standards of pastoral care, safeguarding and compliance and have the well-being of the whole school community central to their leadership.
