ROLE SUMMARY:

King’s InterHigh, as part of Inspired Online Schools, is the leading online school in the UK. With over 6,000 students, we are an ambitious company who put quality education and student engagement at the heart of everything we do. To strengthen our key objectives of delivering highly flexible, personalised, and adaptive online learning in the UK and worldwide, we require a Head of Administration who will oversee several highly efficient and effective teams supporting our organisation and delivery of online education.

 

The Head of Administration has a pivotal role within our online school, overseeing the seamless integration and efficient operation of the Information Systems, Customer Service and Education Operations. This role is responsible for ensuring that our school delivers a reliably high-quality, flexible, and personalised online learning experience to our local and international community of students.

 

The successful candidate will lead initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, student retention, and family engagement, while ensuring compliance with educational standards and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The role will suit an educational leader with an eye for detail, a commitment to delivering the very best for students and families, and a desire to ensure that the school can continue to grow efficiently and sustainably to deliver our goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Leadership and Strategy: Provide strategic leadership across the administration teams. Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to enhance operational efficiency and customer service.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee the administrative and operational aspects of school programs, including resource allocation, timetabling, information system management, compliance, and the implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and high-quality outcomes.
  • Team Management and Development: Lead and empower each team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Support each team leader with the appraisal process and professional development, ensuring that all team members are fully engaged and performing to their best abilities.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with Admissions, Heads of Key Stages, IT, HR and other departments to ensure seamless integration of systems and processes. Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders in Education and Finance to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Retention and Family Liaison: Together with the Head of Family Liaisons and Retention, develop and oversee the execution of comprehensive student retention strategies. Ensure the team deliver excellent customer service and support to families, ensuring swift and effective service.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and accreditation requirements. Conduct regular checks for quality assurance and improvement, focusing on safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Efficient staff and timetable management: Together with the Head of Education Operations, develop and maintain a universal timetable that serves the needs of our international community including multiple time zones whilst maintaining staffing efficiencies. 
  • Information Systems Management: Together with the Information Systems Team Leader, ensure efficient use of the school’s management information systems including effective data management. 
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Identify potential risks and issues, developing contingency plans to mitigate impact. Investigate and advise on innovative solutions to automate repetitive aspects of school operations, enhancing organizational efficiency.
  • Data-Informed Decision Making: Ensure the school is data-informed and data-led in education decision making. Utilize staff and student feedback to drive further improvement.

  •  Proven leadership and management experience in an educational or fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of online education delivery and operational support requirements.
  • Exceptional ability to develop and implement strategic plans and operational improvements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse data, identify trends, and use insights to inform decision-making.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality customer service and enhancing student and family engagement.
  • Knowledge of current educational laws, regulations, and best practices in online learning.
  • Ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within teams.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • A degree in Education, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in educational administration or a similar role, with a proven track record of successful team leadership and operational management.
  • Deep understanding of the British education system and online learning platforms.
  • Proven track record of improving operational efficiency, student retention, and customer service in an educational setting.

Inspired Online Schools use state-of-the-art digital technology and operates two established divisions – King's InterHigh, a non-selective fee-paying online secondary school, established in 2005 and a B2B division including Academy 21, serving other educational providers, schools, local authorities and other public bodies.

King's InterHigh is the largest online school group in the UK, delivering a fully personalised education online. Our curriculum structure is based on the Key Stages, with IGCSEs offered at KS4 and A Levels at KS5. We teach students online from Key Stage 2 - 5, through a digital platform.

Academy21 is an online alternative provision, which caters for vulnerable students with different needs from a range of schools, local authorities and virtual provisions. We teach all core subjects at KS3 and KS4 plus various additional subjects including citizenship studies, English literature, history and ICT. Students take GCSEs and Functional Skills qualifications at KS4 and may stay with the school for any length of time, depending on their individual circumstances.

We offer a genuinely 21st century education and the opportunity for teachers to develop professional skills. Our teachers teach exceptionally well-behaved students from their own home and all teachers are provided with high quality computer hardware.

Our successful candidates will join a talented team providing excellent online educational experiences for our students whose ages range between 8 and 18. The successful candidates will demonstrate expertise and experience of delivering their subject specialism/s and come from either a state school and/or independent school background. Passionate about ensuring the students are at the centre of learning, the successful candidate will be used to deadlines, have experience of creating effective learning resources and having a key focus on the academic monitoring and progress of the students.

About our Roles

Here at InterHigh and Academy21, our Leaders of Learning (Teacher) contracts do differ from mainstream schools due to the nature of our business and ways of operating. As a Leader of Learning (Teacher) you will be contracted to 42 weeks of the year, up to 38 of these weeks are contact weeks with the students, with the remaining weeks being available for additional activity such as course writing.

You will work 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. During the school day there are allocated breaks in the morning, lunch time and in the afternoon, with breaks in between each lesson also.

Our lessons are 40 minutes long which ensures the time spent in the classroom is value added and effective. A full time Leader of Learning could be given a timetable with up to 33 lessons, equating to 22 hours of contact time.

As a business and a school, we do not follow the Teachers Mainstream Payscale, we operate in line with our own salary bandings. Further information specifically for each role will be available via the job adverts.
