Job overview

St Andrew’s is an IAPS, co-educational, day and boarding school accepting pupils from 2½ to 13 years of age. The school is built around a magnificent country house on approximately 50 acres of stunning grounds, which include playing fields, lawns and woodland. It is situated just outside the village of Pangbourne and fifteen minutes west of Reading in the beautiful West Berkshire countryside.

This is a marvellous opportunity for an ambitious and energetic teacher who is passionate about Art. There is considerable scope for the successful candidate to further develop the Art and Design department.  The successful candidate must have the vision and drive necessary to lead this vital area of the School, building on the excellent work that has been done in recent years.

St. Andrew’s was founded in 1934 and became a charitable trust administered by a board of governors in 1961. Since 1968 the school has been fully co-educational. The estate extends to 54 acres in magnificent Berkshire countryside between the villages of Pangbourne and Bradfield.

In recent years, the number of pupils has been steady at approximately 290, which is the currently intended maximum. Whilst it is predominantly a day school, ‘flexi-boarding’ operates and many children use this during their time at the school. The aim of the school is to provide the best possible broad-based education for children aged 3 to13. Pupils leave with an impressive number of scholarships. This year, seventeen of our twenty-three sixth form (Year 8) leavers have won awards, including academic, music, art and sports.
