The opportunity

This is a superb opportunity for an able and inspirational teacher to assume responsibility for a key department in a leading HMC School. This role will suit a candidate who is highly motivated and committed to taking a highly regarded department to the next stage of its evolution. As Head of Department, it is essential that performance learning and enjoyment are viewed as being key, alongside enabling pupils to realise their potential and maximise their outcomes.

NULS was founded c.1602 and its academic calibre is renowned in the area. In 2022, NULS’ exceptional results of 63% Grade 7-9 at GCSE and 84% A*-B at Advanced Level not only led in Staffordshire, and identified NULS as one of leading a schools in the entire West Midlands region. NULS holds the highest ratings possible under full ISI Education Quality Inspection, undertaken in March 2020. Our 30 acre site enables the school to benefit from impressive facilities for teaching, learning and extracurricular provision across our Prep and Senior sites. The school embarked on an ambitious development programme, ‘NULS 2025’, to build on its academic strengths and wishes to appoint a new Head of Biology who is keen to work with similar ambition in this key curriculum area. The new Head of Biology may be an experienced current Head of Department or an aspiring and gifted Teacher ready to assume departmental responsibility.

 

The Biology Department enjoys excellent facilities in large, well-resourced laboratories neighbouring the Chemistry and Physics Departments and the School’s Library and Learning Resource Centre. The Department also has its own Prep Room and Technicians.
