About the Role

We are looking for a committed and dynamic head of department to join the Business Studies/Economics department at GEMS Jumeirah College, Dubai from September 2021.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced leader or an experienced Business Studies and Economics teacher looking for the next step in their career. You should be somebody who is looking to join a global leading company and a world-class international school.

You will be responsible for running a successful department and should have previous experience implementing outstanding teaching and learning practice both within the classroom and across a wider department setting.

The successful candidate will work in an exceptional department which is both extremely popular and successful. In 2020 100% of Business Studies GCSE candidates gained 9 -4 (A*-A), with over 14% gaining 9 (A*).  Economics – 98% of candidates gained 9 -4 (A*-A) with over 22% gaining a 9 (A*). A level Business Studies candidates gained 86% A* - B with 57% A*/A and Economics 97% A* - B with 79% A*/A.

The successful candidate will have the following:

• A certified teaching qualification with exceptional subject knowledge
• Experience teaching GCSE and A-Level or equivalent. We are seeking to appoint talented, highly motivated and well-qualified individuals. You should have a proven track record of outstanding learning and teaching.  
• At least 3 years’ experience of the National Curriculum for England.  

To be considered for this post you must hold a B.Ed. or a Bachelor’s in a relevant subject alongside a PGCE / PGDE or equivalent.
