Head of Chemistry
For 1 September 2019
The Godolphin and Latymer School is one of the country’s leading independent day schools for girls, located on a six acre site in Hammersmith, London.
The School’s facilities are excellent, making it an exciting place to both learn and work. The bright, creative and highly-motivated girls at Godolphin and Latymer receive unrivalled academic and pastoral support and outstanding examination results are achieved.
Subjects within the large and thriving Science Faculty are extremely popular. Taught by specialist teachers and supported by dedicated technical staff, a range of new technologies is used in a modern suite of well-equipped classrooms and laboratories to facilitate effective learning.
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a well-qualified and driven Head of Chemistry, or a suitably experienced and ambitious Teacher of Chemistry looking to progress to a Head of Department role, to join the school from 1 September 2019. An inspirational teacher and leader, the key responsibilities of the appointed candidate will include ensuring effective teaching and learning, monitoring and evaluating pupils’ work and achievements, and ensuring that that the department has the leadership and support necessary to build on its already excellent standards.
The post-holder will confidently lead a team of eight enthusiastic and proactive Chemists, with a strong focus on skills development and independent learning. High importance is placed on hands-on practical work. The ability to teach up to and including A Level, and ideally the IB Diploma Programme, is essential. Some experience of Oxbridge preparation would be desirable. We currently teach Edexcel Chemistry at A Level and IGCSE Edexcel at GCSE.
All members of the department play a role in the extensive extra-curricular life of the faculty and our students enjoy participating in a wide range of additional activities, in a stimulating and fun learning environment.
The salary will be commensurate with the post and will depend upon qualifications and experience.
Accommodation may be available for new staff in a local six-unit property.
