We are seeking an experienced Computer Science Teacher to lead our Computing and ICT Department, which is part of the Mathematics, Computing and ICT Faculty.

At GCSE the school offers Computer Science as an option choice for pupils in Year 10 with pupils studying the OCR GCSE syllabus. The subject is popular with students and the take up at GCSE has been good.  We also offer CNAT in Creative I-Media in KS4 and A Level Computer Science in KS5.  The subject is also taught as a discrete subject in each year at KS3.

The school has invested heavily in its IT resources, adopting latest technologies where appropriate. The school employs a high performance core network serving over 500 desktop PCs and offering almost complete wireless coverage available to all staff and students.

We are currently running a Windows 10 environment, using core applications MS Office 2016 and Adobe Creative Cloud Suite. In addition, we have a broad range of programming tools for students of all skill levels.  The school also provides Office 365 professional accounts for staff and students as a platform for collaboration, sharing and out of school access. Show My Homework service is also provided as a formal assignment solution and Impero, the classroom computer management and monitoring application is available in all ICT suites.

The Downs School, a Foundation, 11-18 comprehensive school, is a successful, oversubscribed and popular school serving the Downs area of West Berkshire.  The roll is nearly 1200 with a well-established sixth form.  Results at all levels are consistently above national averages and Ofsted described our students as having ‘excellent personal and social skills’ who ‘achieve well academically’.
