We are seeking to appoint a whole school Head of Computing, who will have principal responsibility for the teaching of students across all year groups, as well as leading a departmental team of two or three additional teachers. 

Role overview

This role will include introducing the teaching of Computing into our International School, as well as developing and strengthening the teaching of Computer Science in years 7-11 and the Sixth Form.

The Post and the Department

This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic and exceptional teacher to take responsibility for the leadership of the Computer Science department across the school. 

The role involves being the principal teacher of Computer Science in years 7-11, as well as contributing to teaching in the Sixth Form and overseeing the delivery of Computing as a new subject being offered in the International School. 

The Head of Computing will share teaching with our current A Level teacher and will take responsibility for all aspects of departmental leadership, including schemes of work, selecting appropriate books and I.T. teaching resources and overseeing the provision and maintenance of computers in the Computer Science classroom, devising departmental development plans, budgets etc. We teach the AQA specification, opting for the Python module.  He/she will also have responsibility for preparing any potential Oxbridge candidates for Computer Science courses.

Necessary Qualifications

All applicants will be expected to have a good degree in Computer Science or a related subject and be able to demonstrate their teaching ability. d’Overbroeck’s does not require that its staff possess a PGCE or equivalent formal teaching qualification, though most members of staff do in fact have an appropriate qualification.
