“Opportunity for all”

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational leader for our Computing department. As Head of Computing, you will implement a vision and strategy to ensure the continued development of the department at King Alfred’s Academy.

We are looking for someone to inspire our students and promote a love for this subject both in and out of the classroom. Computing is a rapidly growing subject at GCSE, with increasing student uptake. The successful applicant will be committed to continuing to develop Computing across the curriculum and securing the best outcomes for all students within the Academy.

To get a flavour of what KAs is all about, why not visit us on twitter @KAs_Wantage . We would also highly recommend visiting the Academy to see the facilities and meet the excellent staff we have working within the Academy. Please contact Christine Hill on 01235 225700 or vacancies@kaacademy.org to make arrangements.

King Alfred’s is one of the largest secondary schools in Oxfordshire with a strong academic history, combining ancient listed buildings with recent capital investment totalling £17 million. The Academy has recently been reorganised from three sites to two sites. This has enabled very significant investment in the two remaining sites. Facilities for students and staff are excellent and include:  A new purpose built Science Building, a new Dining Hall, renovated teaching rooms for Faculties such as Business and Computing, improved leisure facilities such as a new sports hall and expansion of Sixth Form Centre.

King Alfred’s is in the heart of the local community and has very strong links across many partners in the locality, and particularly with the primary schools with which we jointly form the Vale Academy Trust (VAT).  We continually seek to improve the educational experience for students and reflect upon the responsibility we have as a local employer. At King Alfred’s we are passionate about learning both within and beyond the classroom; enrichment of educational experience is central to our ethos. We are committed to teacher training, the CPD and career development of our staff.

An application form and further details can be downloaded from http://www.kaacademy.org/about-kas/work-with-us/  Completed application forms should be e-mailed to vacancies@kaacademy.org  to arrive by 9.00 a.m. on 27th March 2020.

King Alfred’s will recognise previous service conditions for newly appointed teachers in recognition of previous service for calculating occupational sickness and maternity benefits.

King Alfred’s is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment.  All post holders in regulated activity are subject to appropriate vetting procedures and a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

All staff are expected to promote fundamental British values.
