Regent High School are looking for a highly driven and forward thinking Head of Design & Technology to be a Second in charge, of a high achieving Art & DT faculty.
The successful candidate would need to demonstrate experience of teaching all Design & Technology disciplines including Food Technology with a preferred specialism in Product Design at GCSE level, with the view of growing this to A Level.
We are looking for a dynamic leader of the subjects with a clear understanding of how to build curriculum successfully from key stage 3. They would need a clear vision that incorporates the changes required in this area of education in order to ready our students for future career opportunities. The department currently offers Resistant Materials, Textiles and Food Technology at KS3 and has growing Product Design and Food & Nutrition GCSE courses.
You would be joining an innovative faculty with teaching & learning at the heart of their ethos. About the Art & Design Technology Faculty
The Design Technology department consists of a modern dedicated space with a full range of equipment and resources ranging from traditional equipment such as workbenches, table and band-saws to laser cutters and brand new 3D printers. Within this, there is a dedicated prep room. In addition, we have 4 large art studios including a sixth form studio space, dark room and kiln. The teaching team are dedicated to the Art & Design education of our students and show this through a dynamic and broad curriculum.
Regent High School is an 11-19 mixed comprehensive school with an inspiring and dynamic curriculum that challenges all students to realise their full potential and equips them with the skills required for success in the competitive 21st century. Location and surroundings
Regent High School is located in vibrant Camden, minutes from both Euston and St Pancras International Stations, giving easy access to the whole of London’s cultural and leisure opportunities. The school’s state-of-the art building opened in 2014 and offers an inspiring working environment. Regent High School became the first school to be a member of the King’s Cross Knowledge Quarter, and is currently the only secondary school member. We work closely with a number of Knowledge Quarter partners, including the British Library, Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design, University of the Arts London, The Francis Crick Institute, the Wellcome Trust and others to provide additional opportunities for students, staff and parents/carers.
Parking
Driving to Regent High School is discouraged. We are served by excellent transport links. Parking around the school is limited and can be expensive. Very limited on-site parking is available by prior arrangement for applicants with a specific need.
Transport links
Regent High School is a short walk from the mainline train and Underground stations at Euston, St Pancras International and King's Cross. Additionally, the London Underground station at Mornington Crescent is a few minutes' walk from the school. A number of buses stop close to the school: the 46 and 214 on Crowndale and Pancras Roads; the 168 and 253 on Eversholt Street, and the 10, 30, 59, 73, 91, 205, 390, 476 stop outside the British Library or St Pancras International Station on Euston Road.
