Orchard Park is one of the most successful schools in the area, achieving excellent GCSE results well above the national average for progress 8. The school is proud of its ambitions and our diversity. We pride ourselves on routines, systems and excellence. Consequently we are a calm, happy and high achieving school full of warmth. The school is smaller than lots of large secondaries; every child is known and cared for.

Working with us is very rewarding: you will flourish as a member of staff whilst leading our pupils academically and pastorally, to be confident, capable and ambitious. You will care deeply about addressing disadvantages and giving every child the opportunities they deserve, creating a sense of belonging and motivation, establishing high expectations and rewarding success. Pupils behaviour is excellent. They listen attentively, speak politely, work hard and are welcoming. They are proud of their school.

The school’s leadership is not only committed to developing a school grounded in academic success, and the development of character, but also a school in which workload for staff is sensible, manageable and all tasks are impactful.

Orchard Park believes in evidence led approaches, teaching in a traditional manner built around explicit instruction. They firmly believe that teachers are the experts in the room, and teach from a high quality, knowledge - rich curriculum. The knowledge is carefully selected.

How do we reduce workload and increase well-being for teachers?

  • High quality centralised curriculum resources
  • Live marking in lessons and whole class feedback
  • Centralised behaviour systems
  • Highly visible and supportive SLT
  • Carefully planned deadlines
  • Free breakfast for all staff every day
  • Fun Friday activities for staff as well as pupils

These are only some of the things we do to allow teachers to focus on the main thing, teaching great lessons to our children.
