Job overview

The Post

This exciting new role is designed to provide specialist teaching in Drama at the school, including responsibility for delivering class drama and supporting/directing school drama productions.  A secondary aspect of the role will be to work alongside existing external dance and speech teachers, as well as the school’s Head of Music, to facilitate an outstanding provision for Performing Arts at the school.

At Lady Barn children are taught Drama as a discrete curriculum subject from Year 1 to Year 6.  From September 2018, the specialist drama teacher will teach all drama lessons from Year 2 to Year 6 and will also provide support for teachers in Year 1 in the preparation of the drama curriculum and associated materials. Drama takes place for the most part within Scott House, a dedicated modern Performing Arts building which includes a drama/dance studio on the ground floor and a specialist music classroom on the first floor.

There are many opportunities for pupils to get involved with Drama at the school, whether it is through the various Christmas events, the Year 6 production on the school’s own stage in the gymnasium or at one of the many celebratory events that we hold during our busy year. It is expected that the new Head of Drama will broaden these opportunities still further.

The post offered is that of Head of Drama from 1 September 2018. The post is expected to be around 0.75 FTE, the precise amount to be agreed with the successful applicant.
