The Grammar School at Leeds has an exciting opportunity to bring drama alive with the expansion of the curriculum to every year group from September 2018 and to be studied at GCSE and A level through the AQA exam board. The head of drama will be responsible for both the academic and co-curricular provision.
The school has a long tradition of putting on significant, high-quality dramatic productions and we want to build on these high standards. The school currently has termly co-curricular drama events, including KS3 drama club, whole school musical or play and house drama and dance.
Numbers in drama are growing and as such there will be two members of the drama department from September 2018, in addition to two dedicated theatre support technicians. The drama facilities at GSAL include a theatre and a drama studio. It is our aim to ultimately be renowned nationally for the success of our drama provision.
We are therefore seeking an exceptional and talented practitioner to lead and develop this department from September 2018. The successful candidate will have a strong academic and leadership pedigree, with high results in both academic and co-curricular remits. Previous experience with drama and theatre studies at GCSE and A level is highly desirable. You will also be required to participate in the wider range of extra-curricular activities available within the school and to support the house system.
There are a range of non contractual benefits available including salary sacrifice schemes and access to the school gym and pool. Full details of the post are shown in the job description and person specification on the school’s website.
Application is by completion of the online GSAL application form.
Closing date: by 09:00 on: Monday 15 January 2018
