Job overview
Thank you for your interest in the Head of Drama vacancy here at Torquay Girls’ Grammar School (TGGS).
TGGS is a girls’ 11-18 selective Academy which has the core aim of preparing our students for their next steps in life.
Our school vision is:
To equip students for a future in which they have the academic qualifications, character skills and high self-esteem to make decisions that lead to long, happy and content lives.
We are looking to appoint an outstanding Head of Drama to lead the drama curriculum in our school with genuine passion and enthusiasm for the subject. The successful candidate will be well-qualified and able to motivate and inspire all students whilst raising the profile of the department within the school.
The Drama Department is well equipped with two modern studios and a well-stocked props store; it is located in the same building as the thriving Music Department to allow for a truly collaborative working environment. A traditional stage, in the Old Hall, is the ideal setting for school productions where many past students have ‘trodden the boards’.
This is a permanent, full-time or part-time, contract starting in April 2023.
If you would like to discuss the role or visit the school before applying, please contact Sarah Forster, Headteacher via lrumbelow@tggsacademy.org (Headteacher’s PA). For questions about the application process, please contact our HR department (personnel@tggsacademy.org)

TGGS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. References will be taken up for all shortlisted applicants, and the successful candidate will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service and other employment checks.
