Job overview

This key executive manager works alongside the house Registered Manager and under the leadership of the Principal of Avocet House. The Head of Education leads a Deputy, and a team of teachers and teaching assistants in our Learning Centre, and works in parallel with the Registered Manager to deliver our 24 hr learning philosophy.

As Head of Education you will be leading and managing the Learning Centre adults, as part of our larger holistic multi-professional team, and providing a personalised learning curriculum for the children and young people in our care.

You will not be running our Learning Centre as a separate “school”. Our holistic philosophy demands a team approach from all staff under the leadership of the Principal.

We are seeking experienced, creative professionals who already have a degree of management experience coupled with the ability to innovate. If you have the potential we will develop it. You must be at one with our ‘no limits’ philosophy, understand the notion of 24hr learning and have an informed view of learning in its widest sense. An SEN specialism would be useful as would a knowledge of social, emotional and mental health issues, but this should not pre-determine whether you enquire or apply.

To obtain an application pack, arrange a visit or for an informal chat about working at the school please contact Diane Jamieson or Katie Mcwilliams on permanent@visionforeducation.co.uk or call on 0191 267 6555 or 07713 323792.

The closing date is 12noon on 1st December 2017 and your completed application should be returned to Diane Jamieson via email before then to be considered.
Interviews will be held on Wednesday 13th December 2017

Applicants for all posts must be at least 21 years of age, except for administrative staff (Children’s Homes Regulations).

SES is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Appointments are dependent on a satisfactory enhanced DBS disclosure.
