About Us 

MacIntyre Academies Trust opened its first academy, Endeavour Academy, in Headington, Oxford in September 2014 for 30 children and young people with autism and associated severe Learning difficulties aged from 9 to 19 years old.  In September 2015, it was joined by Discovery Academy a new school in Nuneaton, Warwickshire for 80 children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs and /or autism, aged between 9 years and 19 years. Quest Academy in Rugby, the sister school to Discovery opened in September 2017 (currently located in Nuneaton).  

MacIntyre Academies Trust is sponsored by MacIntyre Charity, which over the last 50 years, has developed a strong reputation nationally, as a high quality, person centred organisation. MacIntyre Charity runs an Independent Special School in Wingrave for 35 young people with similar needs to those at Endeavour Academy. MacIntyre Academies work closely with the sponsor.  


The Role 

As a small but growing Trust, we are currently seeking an experienced strategic Head of Finance, ICT and Facilities to join our Central Support Team. The role incorporates Finance, Facilities, Information and Communications Technology (ICT), and Health and Safety responsibilities for the Trust, as such will support the Chief Operating Officer and Trust Board in the efficient and effective delivery of the Trust’s strategic aims and objectives.   Based in Milton Keynes or Nuneaton the role will involve weekly travel to Nuneaton, Rugby and Oxford.

As the Head of Finance and Facilities, you will be responsible for the efficient and effective management of the Trust financial systems. You will act as Finance Officer with regards to dealings with the Education, Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) and ensure compliance with Trust Finance Policy and Procedures, and ESFA Financial Handbook. You will also support Principals and the COO to ensure that all budgetary targets are met by individual academies and the MAT as a whole.  

You will liaise with academy Principals to ensure that dedicated teams, including Business Managers who oversee finance, ICT and facilities in each academy are effective, competent and well supported.  

You will lead on Facilities Management including compiling and implementing a 5-year maintenance plan, be responsible for Health and Safety ensuring robust processes are in place, and have an overview of ICT contracts across the Trust.   

A member of the Trust Leadership Group, you will provide strong vision and strategic direction to Trust staff and lead the financial aspects of the strategic plan, including the preparation and implementation of plans for new schools and those joining the Trust.    


About You 

You need to be CCAB Qualified (CIMA/CIPFA/ACCA/ICAEW) and have significant experience of managing, supporting, training, developing and coaching staff, including the assessment and control of work priorities.  

You will have practical experience of presenting complex issues to School and Trust Leaders. You will have experience of overseeing and completing the budget preparation process, and submission of year end statutory accounts and returns. A management qualification, and experience gained within the education sector, knowledge of academies financial regulations and an understanding of the ESFA systems is desirable.   

A strong team player, you will possess the ability to operate calmly under pressure and you will be prepared to work variable hours occasionally to meet the requirements of the post.
