A school like no other, Wellington College is one of the world’s leading co-educational boarding and day schools and has an enviable reputation for excellence and innovation. We’re currently looking for an inspirational individual with the ability to teach the subject from beginners level up, to join us as Head of French.

The French department consists of ten teachers, many of whom also teach another language. We are committed to bringing French culture to life through engaging lessons, trips, competitions and a range of cultural activities. As well as teaching across the full age range from Year 9 to 13, you will play a leading role in the running and extra-curricular activities of the department and contribute wholeheartedly to all aspects of school life.

Producing schemes of work that will deliver an engaging curriculum, monitoring student progress and achievement, contributing to the recruitment and training of French staff and enhancing the profile of the subject within the College and beyond – all are elements of a role that will also see you actively safeguard and promote the welfare of children.

As well as a good level degree, or higher, in French, you will need a thorough knowledge of the subject curriculum at GCSE/IGCSE and A/IB level, plus teaching experience from beginners to A/IB level, including teaching native speakers. We will also be looking for a passion for French culture, for example literature, film, theatre, history or politics. Happy to contribute to learning outside of the classroom, such as evening/weekend activities and residential trips abroad, you strive for excellence in everything you do. An additional language (German, Mandarin, Russian or Spanish) would be a distinct advantage.

Not only is this an excellent career development opportunity, it also comes with a generous salary and benefits package. So, if you have the ambition and expertise to help Wellington realise its vision and are keen to develop as a leader in a dynamic and ambitious organisation, apply today.
