Job overview

We’re searching for a Head of Geography who will inspire our pupils in the classroom by delivering innovative curricula and by giving them the confidence to think big for themselves as they progress through our academy. The purpose of this role is to provide day to day leadership of the department and be accountable for the quality of teaching, learning and educational outcomes ensuring they are in line with the Academy's strategic plan.


Reporting to SLT link, this post holder will be accountable for:




Identify areas for development and improvement linked to the Academy improvement plan, SEF, national and local initiatives.

Develop and monitor schemes of work for your area across the academy in liaison with your department and to ensure the successful implementation which meets curriculum requirements and differentiated to reflect student needs.

Lead the implementation of national and local strategies for raising attainment of students in your subject, in accordance with the Academy improvement plan.

Royton and Crompton E-ACT Academy is a co-educational, non-denominational secondary in Oldham, Greater Manchester. As of the most recent inspection there were 1,166 students on the school roll. The school is located close to Blackshaw Lane Primary and Nursery School. The town of Oldham has a population of 97,000, and is less than ten miles from central Manchester. The school’s student council meet once a term to discuss important issues centred on school life and the local community.
